Engineering Knits

Hello! I’m the person behind Engineering Knits and I am so happy you decided to stop by. My dog, Nutella, and I always love welcoming new and returning people to our small corner of the internet. We hope it is soft, warm and cozy and that it invites you to try new fun crafts that inspire you!

I learned how to knit and sew at a very young age, though I never got fully into it until more recently. I found comfort in knitting when large life changes came my way and over the last two years my love for knitting has only grown and expanded into more fiber arts and many more eras.

What really excited me was finding antique and vintage knitting patterns online that let me get a glimpse into the knitting world of the Victorians and earlier generations. I have always had a love for history, and connecting with history in such a tangible way was fascinating to me. Now I enjoy interpreting antique and vintage patterns, occasionally writing one up for general use and generally just enjoying myself.

Why did you call yourself Engineering Knits? Are you an Engineer?

Yes I am an engineer! I was a Chemical Engineer for three years professionally after getting my degree, and I switched to Software Engineering after that. Thus, when I started the youtube channel and had to come up with a name I put together the two things I work on the most in my day - Engineering and Knitting!

Hopefully it also comes across that I am trying to figure out antique and historical knitting patterns, and thus ‘engineering’ them - so Engineering Knits :)
